Die zweite Stufe der Personen-Qualifikation ist der AFSE (Automotive Functional Safety Expert). Dieser Titel ist den Experten mit Erfahrung vorbehalten.
For the expert status Automotive Functional Safety Expert (AFSE) you must prove that you have been working in this field for at least 5 years. To obtain this expert status, you must apply to the SGS-TÜV Saar Examination Board, document your experience in functional safety and successfully pass a qualification audit.
Confirmation of knowledge as part of a 3-hour personal expert audit (live or online). The audit is divided into three parts of equal length. In the first part, the candidates present when and how they gained their experience in functional safety. In the second part, a set task must be solved. In the third part, questions on the interpretation of ISO 26262 are asked. To pass the audit, a "sufficient" rating must be achieved in all three parts

The qualification is valid for 5 years.
No examination is required for the extension of the AFSE qualification, but proof that work has been carried out predominantly in the area of functional safety (at least 50%) in the last three years.
