Pressure Equipment & Plant technology: There's a lot at stake.

Pressure Equipment Directive & Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health: for everything that generates pressure.

If the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) is binding for you as an operator or plant manufacturer, you know that no tank, no pipe and no (pressurized) piece of equipment with a safety function and the following elements may remain untested - starting with the manufacture of a pressure system to commissioning and ongoing operation.

Not to forget: the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health. It obliges you in your role as operator to carry out periodic inspections. You are only permitted to use your pressure system until the next inspection date. This inspection allows you to make sure and prove to others that your pressure system is safe to use.

Whether gas cartridges, piping systems for water, chemicals or gas, industrial fittings or tanks with a wide variety of volumes: only equipment that has been tested in accordance with European Directives such as PED may be operated.

As an approved inspection body (ZÜS) and notified body (NoBo) by the EU, we have the necessary knowledge to test your systems. Our employees in and around Kaiserslautern, Speyer and Sulzbach are your experienced partners for all test scenarios. We guide you through the entire conformity assessment process - from the design phase to the final declaration of conformity. In addition, we also perform statutory inspections of your pressure equipment during the use phase.

Questions about pressure equipment? We are here for you

Europe and the rest of the world:
Other countries, other guidelines.

Do you export your products to customers abroad? Or do you have other reasons that oblige you to comply with other international directives in addition to the PED? No problem: we are also on safe ground outside Europe and are therefore able to provide you with solid advice and carry out inspections.

In addition to the PED, the following guidelines are part of our "tools":

  • European standards (EN)
  • International standards (ISO)
  • American standards (ASME)
  • British Standards (BS)
  • AD 2000 standard

When it comes to pressure equipment, we are here to help.

Our spectrum

  • Design review and individual inspection of products
  • Periodic inspections in accordance with the Betriebssicherheitsverordnung (BetrSichV)
  • Conformity assessments and quality systems evaluation based on PED

As experts in implementing the Pressure Equipment Directive, we are also well-equipped to handle your welding staff qualification, QA audits, and other regulatory audits.

To keep the pressure within limits

Whether steam boilers, pipes or valves: every production process starts with the choice of material. To help you get the most out of your materials and manufacturing expertise, we can also be your expert materials inspection and nondestructive testing service provider.

The fact that we relieve you as much as possible from the stress during a material or failure analysis also speaks for our commitment and therefore for the entire SGS-TÜV Saar.

Material inspection - this is where trust begins

We support you within the process of material acceptance with material certificates in accordance with EN 10204 (3.2) and mechanical-technological tests of welded joints as well as other monitoring activities.

We are supported by SLV Saarbrücken and SGS-Gottfeld in Herne so that we can help you efficiently.

At your side for non-destructive testing

We are honest: non-destructive testing is not without its challenges.

Reason enough for you to rely on our highly qualified NDT inspectors, who are at your side for special testing requirements. Whether highly complex systems (-parts) or critical components (Nuclear) - you should always be able to rely on the results.

We at SGS-TÜV Saar therefore use a wide variety of test methods to give you this certainty:

  • Ultrasonic testing (UT)
  • Dye penetrant testing (PT)
  • Magnetic particle testing (MT)
  • Radiographic testing (RT)
  • Visual inspection (VT)
  • Positive Material Identification (PMI) using XRF

No uncertainty in the case of failure

No question: failures should be avoided at all costs. And yet they happen. If you need expert advice for your material and failure analysis, we are here to help.

Thanks to our integration into the SGS Competence Center Material (CCMat) network, which is very familiar with material and failure analysis, we are also the best address for you in the event of a failure. We focus on identifying the material and the failure.

We provide you with detailed advice - e.g. on your welding processes - in order to prevent future negative events. This is something we see as a matter of routine and practice.
